Since opening the doors of K. Alan Smith Gem & Jewelry Salon in 2004, Kim has been crafting and selling innovative, fresh, and meaningful jewelry in the heart of downtown Seattle and now in Kirkland.
Kim began his career in the 1960s by tagging along to his father’s jewelry store in Spokane. Although he spent most of his time sweeping floors and polishing silver, it was great fun and made a permanent impression.
Kim has been honored to serve the greater Seattle area, including its current location in Kirkland, for over 48 years with honesty, precision, and artistry. His values have been the foundation of his work and the core of what sets the K. Alan Smith Gem & Jewelry Salon apart.

With a career path that has taken him through well-known and well-respected jewelry and gem retailers, Kim has been proud to bring his experience, expertise, and artistic eye to valued clients in his own salon since 2004.

From the prime downtown location, and now in Kirkland, Kim has watched from up close as the great Emerald City has changed over the years. The influx of tech companies, the growth of the Biotech sector, the revamped waterfront, and the stadium districts — each addition has brought flavor to the established landscape of vibrant businesses and restaurants. We are bringing our vibrancy, both as a business and with our jewelry, to Kirkland starting in 2021.
Like Seattle and Kirkland, Kim’s life as a jeweler has morphed and grown, culminating in a business he is proud to call his own.
