I recently had the pleasure of designing this beautiful sapphire and diamond engagement ring. The son of a good family friend came to me looking for an engagement ring that would not only incorporate diamonds inherited from his grandmother but would also suit his girlfriend’s active Pacific Northwest style.
After chatting with him about different center stone options, we settled on sapphire. Sapphire is a durable stone that can be worn every day and can endure the activities that they both enjoy. Because sapphire comes in every color of the rainbow and more, we next narrowed down the shade. The steely blue-green color interested him the most. For that reason, I thought a Montana sapphire might do the trick.
At our next consultation, we viewed the variety of Montana sapphires and one particular uniquely colored champagne-green sapphire that my source had sent along as well. By the end of our appointment, this enticing stone “talked” to Ross the most. As a result, this is the sapphire that would become the focus of the ring.
Next, we talked about design. With the help of my new CAD design software, we came up with a classic design that would channel set the inherited diamonds down the shank of the ring. We set that mesmerizing sapphire in a bezel for added beauty and protection. Casting in platinum set the cool colors of the sapphire off perfectly and looks fantastic with her skin tone.
He proposed in beautiful Colorado, and she said yes! Congrats to the happy couple, and thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your special day.
