I had the pleasure of first designing a diamond engagement ring for this couple and, I was delighted when they returned to my salon to create his custom men’s wedding band. At our first meeting, we decided that we would focus on a wedding band that was of substance and comfort, in the specific width that was visually appealing on his hand.
The color of the metal was important, so we decided upon palladium. Palladium is a precious metal similar in color and strength to platinum, but a hint grayer. Plus, it’s lighter in weight than platinum which some find more comfortable. Very cool!
With the client’s input, we mark the ring casting for proper stone placement
At our next consultation, the desire to have an arrangement of gems incorporated into the ring design came about. With total input from the client, we physically marked on the ring casting the unique placement of each gem substance—black diamond, white diamond, amethyst, and alexandrite. We decided to have the stones gypsy set into the band for added durability and give another dimension to the design. We then completed the band with a matte hammered finish which gave the original bright finish of the palladium a softer look. The stones, with this finish as the background, look fantastic!
