Typically, when a young man walks into my salon seeking to purchase an engagement ring, he is a bit nervous, a little overwhelmed, and always filled with excitement to begin this new chapter in life.
he came in with a sturdy game plan. He had done his homework and knew that his fiancé desired an oval diamond. He methodically viewed each stone I had brought in. It had to be the right size and proportions with good attention paid to quality. The diamond he chose checks all those boxes and more. Beautiful indeed!
Creatively, we collaborated on the mounting design via my CAD program. The result is a stunning platinum setting with ideal cut diamonds set down the shank.
Sometimes even the perfect game plan will have some snafus. The mounting we designed was held up in shipping the day before he was to propose. Thanks to my jeweler and some quick thinking on my part, we set the diamond into a “temporary” platinum setting so the proposal could go off as planned.
With a ring in hand now, all he had to think about was the romantic winter proposal while snowshoeing on the Gold Creek Snowshoe Trail in Snoqualmie Pass. Thought was given to tying a string to the stunning ring just in case…what, if in the excitement she dropped the beautiful ring!? But all went as planned; the engagement ring made it safely onto her hand, and we ended with a happily engaged couple!
Congrats to Ian and Jordan! I am honored to have played a small part in your momentous day.
